Good lord, Masahiro, that’s gross. No wonder you keep it all wrapped up like the world’s grossest birthday present.
Also, merry Christmas to all readers who celebrate it, and a general happy gift-giving holidays to the rest!

…what exactly prompted him to unwrap that? I feel very confused here.
Well, a bunch of things, really.
1. He had another LED-light freakout in the shrine, which is triggered by the thing in his arm, so he’s unwrapping his arm to take a look at it. Which he usually doesn’t, as it’s a trauma/injury he doesn’t like to think about.
2. He specifically asked Toshiyuki to help him get rid of it, so he has cause to look at it, because it was brought up earlier in the chapter. Before this, he hasn’t actually spoken about it. It’s been *shown*, but he has been doing his best to hide it.
3. Sometimes, a man’s just got to glare at the immediate source of all his troubles in hopes that it gives up and goes away. XD
Or maybe he’s trying to scare Akane so much she runs away. But no, she’s not freaked out at all.
Akane is stone-cold cool, she is. Unfazed by LED-light freakouts, toothy demon-beasties, AND gross arm-stumps. XD
Is that glowing on the end there? If so it makes me think that his hand is just in another dimension somewhere and could be restored. But I’m pretty high on the optimism meter, no one else should get sucked into my delusional hopes.
Yes, it’s glowing! 🙂 And I applaud your optimism – we need more optimism in the world.
Ugh. That looks a lot like gangrene. I mean, I know you’ve got weird, maddening blue stuff in your arm complicating matters, but you still might wanna get that looked at.
I just love how Akane’s all “Yes, this is what I needed. I must look closer!”
